I'm a JD/PhD candidate at Stanford University, and am a student in the Sociology Department and the Law School. My academic interests include law and society, legal consciousness, rights consciousness, criminal procedure, social stratification, social psychology, qualitative research methods, and the sociology of gender. I'm working on several research projects, including an attempt to more fully understand rights consciousness in the criminal procedure context (which you can read about here in the Stanford Criminal Justice Center's newsletter), a doctrinal and sociological analysis of gays and lesbians on criminal juries, and a discussion of masculinity in Hawaiian cockfighting. My primary advisor is Rebecca Sandefur, and I also work with Monica McDermott, Bob Weisberg, and Pam Karlan whenever the opportunity arises. I have a B.A. in American Studies from Stanford, and a Master's degree in English from Oregon State University. I've also worked at a DA's office, a Federal Defender's office, the Stanford Criminal Justice Center, Stanford's Supreme Court Litigation Clinic, and assorted other places. Please contact me if you have questions about my research, or are in Northern California and want to meet for a cup of coffee.
